BOQ Item Specification for Hollow PU Resin Imitation Wood Decorative Ceiling Beams

Bill of Quantities (BOQ) documentation requires precise specification language that unambiguously communicates material requirements to suppliers and contractors. For hollow polyurethane resin imitation wood decorative ceiling beams, item descriptions must capture dimensional standards, performance characteristics, appearance requirements, and testing compliance that enable accurate procurement and quality verification. This specification template provides construction industry professionals with appropriate language for BOQ integration.

Item Description Template: Supply of hollow section decorative ceiling beams manufactured from polyurethane resin compound with integral wood grain texture surface finish. Beams to replicate appearance of solid timber construction while achieving minimum 80% weight reduction compared to equivalent dimensional sawn lumber. Hollow core construction to facilitate electrical conduit routing where specified in project drawings.

Dimensional Standards: Standard beam lengths to be supplied in increments of 600mm ranging from 2400mm through 6000mm. Cross-sectional dimensions as indicated on project drawings, with standard profile options including 100mm x 150mm, 150mm x 200mm, 200mm x 250mm, and 250mm x 300mm. Dimensional tolerances not to exceed +/- 2mm from specified dimensions.

Material Performance Requirements: Polyurethane density minimum 180 kg/m3 per ASTM D1622. Compressive strength minimum 120 kPa per ASTM D1621. Surface hardness minimum 60 Shore D per ASTM D2240. Flame spread classification minimum Class B per ASTM E84 or equivalent international standard as specified by local building codes.

Appearance Standards: Wood grain texture depth minimum 1.5mm measured from peak to valley of embossed pattern. Color matching to approved sample with Delta E tolerance not exceeding 2.0 CIE Lab units. Surface finish to be uniformly smooth without visible processing marks, air bubbles, or color variations when viewed under 1000 lux illumination at 1.5 meter distance.

Surface Preparation for Painting: When field painting is specified, beams to accept water-based and solvent-based paint systems without sanding or primer application beyond standard cleaning. Paint adhesion to achieve minimum 3B classification per ASTM D3359 cross-cut tape test.

Quality Assurance Documentation: Manufacturer to provide certificate of compliance confirming production testing, raw material specifications, and quality control procedures. Third-party testing reports from accredited laboratories confirming performance characteristics to be provided upon request. ISO 9001 certification or equivalent quality management system documentation required from manufacturer.

Packaging and Shipping: Each beam to be individually wrapped in polyethylene foam and cardboard corner protection. Bundle packaging not to exceed 10 units per package. Loading configuration to prevent beam deformation during transit. Export packaging to comply with ISPM 15 heat treatment requirements for wooden pallet components where applicable.
